Dear Families,

On Monday, September 16th at 12:00 p.m., our school will join schools across Oklahoma in observing a moment of silence. This observance has been requested statewide to honor the recent passing of Charlie Kirk.

With our students, we will keep this observance simple and age-appropriate. Teachers will guide students in sitting quietly for one minute. Children may use the time to think, pray, or simply be still. We will not be sharing detailed information about the circumstances, but rather focusing on how important it is to show respect and reflect together as a community.

Thank you for supporting our efforts to approach this observance with dignity, professionalism, and care for our students’ needs.

This morning, this was shared at our schools:

Today at 12 o’clock, our school will join schools across Oklahoma in a moment of silence. This is a quiet time to stop, think, and show respect for someone who made a difference in our country and our communities. During this moment of silence, please sit quietly and respectfully. You may use this time to think, pray, or simply be still. Thank you for helping us honor this moment together.

This is what we are asking teachers to say at noon:

Now we will begin our moment of silence. Please sit quietly, with respect, as we take this time together.

[Pause for one minute.]
Thank you for showing respect during this time.

We wanted to make you aware of how were were acknowledging this time.
Thank you!
